The world of private market funds continues to evolve at a rapid clip. Fund structures keep getting more complex. Investors expect greater transparency. In this environment, operational alpha has become a critical differentiator for fund managers. On the SS&C Advent Geneva® team, we know our job is to help our clients master increasing complexity and escalating volumes with precision, speed and impeccable data quality. Our Spring 2024 release demonstrates that we are listening to our clients, attuned to market trends and staying on track.
Listen: Key Release Highlights
In our latest Tech It Up monthly podcast, John Berthiuame, Director of Product Management, joined Claire Fix of our Client Success team to walk through some of the new features and enhancements that Geneva clients can look forward to – and in particular, how these improvements will help them work more efficiently. Highlights include:
- New custom fee builder: With more complex fund structures come more complicated fee calculations, with no “one size fits all” solution in sight. So we’ve developed a tool that enables operations teams to design, build and automate their own bespoke fee structures for each client.
- Evergreen fund functionality: The latest release incorporates new accounting functionality for open/closed-end evergreen hybrid funds that helps track capital commitments and contributions.
- CLO cash reporting: For firms that invest heavily in bank loans, we’ve automated workflows for transferring cash and generating cash reporting for CLOs, eliminating what was a tedious manual workaround.
- Investor Workspace: Geneva users know Workspaces as an easy way to access, update and work with portfolio, position, transaction and other everyday data on a single screen, without having to run multiple reports. To that list, we’ve now added a workspace for investor accounting data, with easy access to details on fees, capital commitments, P&L allocations and more.
- Master Swap enhancements: For clients that create and maintain a large number of swaps, we previously introduced Master Swap Investments to help track swap activity. With the new release, we’ve added support for swaps on bonds to complement the existing functionality for equity-based swaps.
In the podcast, you’ll hear John and Claire discuss these and other enhancements in greater detail, along with the overall vision and roadmap for Geneva. A major area of focus is deeper integration with the SS&C Eze trade order management system. Geneva and Eze OMS represent two best-in-class systems that many clients used side by side even before they became part of the SS&C family. Now, integration between the two comes standard, eliminating the need for custom engineering and enabling seamless front-to-back data flows.
We continue to work on ways to make upgrades easier, so that more clients can take advantage of new Geneva features as they become available. As we reinvest in Geneva every year, we are focused primarily on four key priorities:
- Providing best-in-class asset class coverage and fund accounting capabilities
- Delivering a great user experience
- Making access to data as easy as possible
- Delivering a robust managed services offering, as more and more clients look to take advantage of this option
The “guiding light” for our enhancement decisions is feedback and input from our clients, and we offer a wide variety of channels for you to provide it. We have focus group webinars with clients several times a year. This spring we’re hosting client forums in New York and Boston. And don’t forget SS&C Deliver, our annual client conference taking place this year, October 6-8 in New Orleans. Registration is now open!
Of course, a lot of input comes through everyday conversation – clients are not shy about telling their Relationship Managers and Support reps what they’d like to see in Geneva. And we always love to hear it.
